I have a 90 Civic DX Hatch and i was thinking about swapping in a D16Z6 engine into it. I was just curious as to how much the whole swap cost for you.

    Thanks

Well most places will want $500~$700 for the engine...a junkyard is the best place to go. If you pull it they might ask for less.

Sometimes if you get just the longblock and intake manifold they will only want $300-$400.

They don't even know this is a VTEC engine for the most part - not treated as a performance engine.

Then an Si Distributor - anywhere from $50 to $100.

Then reuse your old exhuast manifold.

Buy an Si ECU - $70-$80 typically.

The Si Tranny if you desire - $250.

Reuse your old clutch and flywheel...or buy new for $300~$450 for the clutch kit and $200 for the flywheel (lightened) or $50 for the flywheel if a larger 90+ one used out of a junkyard.

Then $40 bucks for an RPM switch....get a relay from a car and audio store for $5 bucks.....or get a reprogrammed ECU from Zdyne for $300 with the D16Z6 program already set in.

The wiring you can have done by Place Racing or Hasport. They will charge $300 abouts...and you will need to send them your harness and an uncut harness from that enigne you bought....harnesses can run anywhere form $30-$50 bucks used from a junkyard...you pulling them. I am trying to get some information together and am building a DX prototype harness for an Si ECU as we speak.....I just do not have a way of verifying yet. I also have built an Si prototype harness on my CRX - but it hasnt been ran yet since I bought the truck and have been waiting for parts and geenrally had to put on the backburner for a while. When I do offer them, I am looking at somewhere near $100 for them made....may ask for core harnesses or at least a few connectors to be found by the individual.

Everything else would be labor to install. Typical places will charge $900 for a motor swap...to install everything...IE: Given the premade harness, and all the parts. And I'm not talking a backalley honda swap shop in Chicago as there are many that claim they do swaps. I mean your average shop.

You will also need to reuse your old plug wires and get ahold of an 88-91 lower radiator hose and cut it up to use for your new upper radiator hose.

    That's about it.
